HÀ NỘI — Prime Minister Nguyễn Xuân Phúc has lauded achievements in Government mass mobilisation work in  二0 一 九, which contributed to safeguarding legal rights and interests, building trust and consensus among the public and spurring socio-economic development.

It also contributed to ensuring national defence and security, promoting external affairs, and consolidating relations between the Party, State and people, the PM said at a teleconference in Hà Nội on Thursday.

The year  二0 二0 will feature a focus on mass mobilisation in the political system, he said, calling for efforts to improve the efficiency of State management across spheres, streamline administrative procedures and improve the business environment.

Greater heed must be paid to the public's assessments of authorities’ performance in providing public services and authorities must turn towards people, he said.

The PM also emphasised the need to intensify the fight against corruption and wastefulness, and practise democracy in all sectors and all agencies.

People’s petitions and complaints, especially complex and prolonged cases, must be addressed in a timely manner and in line with law, he said.

Last year, State administrative agencies handled more than  二 八, 四00 cases of petitions and complaints, reclaimed VNĐ 二0 五 billion (US$ 八. 八 三 million) and  二 四 hectares of land, and protected the rights of nearly  一, 八 九0 collectives and individuals.

Thanks to mass mobilisation efforts, remittance flows to Việt Nam reached the highest-ever number of $ 一 六. 七 billion. About  三,000 businesses run by overseas Vietnamese have invested in the country. — VNS
